The Wheat from the Chaff #20

This week, at the request of our readers, we're going to get hands-on. The understanding of the current moment and its significance is clear, but there is still a barrier: how to get started? Movement generates movement. Let's do this?

As part of my job, every week I read a lot of content about data, technology, and artificial intelligence (also known as AI). I filter them and send you the best ones, every Sunday.

Hello everyone ๐Ÿ‘‹ ,

This week, at the request of our readers, we're going to get hands-on. The understanding of the current moment and its significance is clear, but there is still a barrier: how to get started? Movement generates movement. Let's do this!

It's time to separate THE WHEAT FROM THE CHAFFโ€ฆ

Less is More

When I started writing 'The Wheat from the Chaff', my main goal was (and still is) to support those interested in navigating through this moment that is both intriguing and filled with noise. When co-founding Datarisk, we faced a similar challenge. We initiated discussions about predictive models and AI in a country that, at that time, was just beginning to debate data governance. In this context, we needed to be careful not to be seen as a passing trend without practical applications.

Let me share a case to illustrate this better. A large company in the healthcare industry asked us for help in locating people in Brazil with a rare disease that typically took an average of seven years to be diagnosed. One of the major challenges with this disease is its degenerative nature, so by the time it was finally discovered, the patient's life was already severely affected. Through the collaboration of this company's field team, doctors, data, and AI, we were able to compile a list of hospitals with a higher probability of receiving patients with this condition. Thus, the teams in these hospitals were empowered to efficiently identify those affected. The rare diseases branch of this company, in collaboration with Datarisk, received global recognition. This example demonstrates that in addition to having a great purpose, real and complex problems can be effectively addressed.

This week, I had conversations with several executives and partners, and I noticed something interesting. I believe we all understand that the era of AI is just beginning, as Bill Gates once said, a phrase I often use to conclude our reflections in 'The Wheat from the Chaff'. However, now I feel we are facing a second challenge (and we love challenges): how can we use this in practice? In recent editions, I have touched on this issue, but today I will present a practical roadmap that can be easily applied. This will help you start connecting the dots, which is what truly transforms the game.

ChatGPT

I'll start with ChatGPT. To use it, simply access the website and create a login and password.

Start with the free version, and if necessary, make the switch. How can you use it? I'll share my experience: I use it a lot to increase my productivity. For example, when reading a report and coming across an unfamiliar term, we would typically have to search on a website to understand it, which often took more time than reading the original report. Let's say the term is ESG; I asked ChatGPT the following:

"Explain the term ESG in a way that a teenager in school can understand."

The answer is:

Agents

A highly useful tool is AI-based autonomous agents. These are solutions that employ all this technology but have an end goal defined by you. From this goal, the agent establishes and executes the necessary tasks to achieve it. An example is AgentGPT. You can access it and create your account on the website:

I asked the agent to write a program to access the IMDb website and create a list of the top 10 most popular movies, including their ratings, directors, and summaries. You might be thinking, "Jhon, I don't know how to program." Don't worry, the agent will take care of everything. See for yourself:

Affectionately, I called the agent MovieGPT and described what I expect it to do as clearly as possible. Then, the agent itself defined the necessary tasks (right-hand column) and started creating the programming code. It will execute the code on its own, and we will only receive the list of movies.

After about 5 minutes, the agent started presenting the first results. As it is a relatively new tool, it is evident that some inconsistencies may arise. With this in mind, the company that developed it allows for a configuration where it is possible to approve the agent's tasks and even manually input a task that the agent may not have considered.

I created a simple and illustrative example with movies, but it is possible to perform various types of research, including market analysis and competitor analysis. Therefore, your creativity is the limit here.

Imagine a company about to launch a new product. It could use an agent like this to research multiple sources and deeply understand the needs and discussions of potential customers by region. So, think of these agents as tireless assistants, gathering information 24/7 to aid in decision-making, whether in personal or professional life.

A powerful combination is that of tools known as NoCode with current AI technologies. NoCode tools are platforms that allow the creation and development of solutions without the need for advanced programming skills. Currently, there are several options available. If we do a memory exercise, many of you will remember 'Wix,' which allowed anyone to create and publish a website, even if it was simple.

A current example is the solution offered by Hexomatic, which offers the possibility to upload your own data for simple analyses. It has various integrations with diverse data sources that can be easily enabled without the need for programming. The solution also provides tools to automate the defined process, allowing for execution at a predefined interval.

To illustrate, I conducted a search for restaurants (assuming it is my persona) using Google /Maps in a specific neighborhood of a city in the country. Here, I present a summary of the types of cuisine and the current ratings of the establishments I found:

From the search, I also obtained the respective websites and phone numbers of the establishments. This information can be used to enable targeted contact by the sales team, thereby increasing the chances of closing deals. This is just a simple illustration, but the solution allows you to explore your creativity to generate lists of potential qualified customers.

The era of AI is just beginning! ๐Ÿ˜
