The Wheat from the Chaff #12

This week, an interesting development emerged in the field of AI. The ChatGPT allows you to ask questions and get answers, but you may be wondering how this directly relates to task automation.

As part of my job, every week I read a lot of content about data, technology, and artificial intelligence (also known as AI). I filter them and send you the best ones, every Sunday.

Hello everyone 👋 ,

I appreciate everyone for the feedback regarding the last article! Many readers shared that they were able to visualize several tools and ideas being applied in their daily lives. Thank You!

This week, an interesting movement arose in the field of AI. The ChatGPT allows you to ask questions and get answers, but you may be wondering how this directly relates to task automation. That's a great question, so let's dive in…

It's time to separate THE WHEAT FROM THE CHAFF…

Less is More

The movement in question is related to Toran Bruce Richards, a scotch, who created an open-source project called AutoGPT this week. This project allows the creation of autonomous agents that can perform various tasks without human intervention until they achieve a defined end goal.

Hey Jhon, lend me a hand here, it sounds like science fiction!

Let's illustrate with a practical example involving a task that has clear deliverables. Let's suppose you want to find out the top three most relevant topics in Portuguese about artificial intelligence on Google Brazil. One important point is to be clear in the request:

My goal: List the three most discussed topics in Portuguese about artificial intelligence according to the ranking on Google Brazil.

The image above translates to: Search the top 3 subjects about AI discussed in Brazil; Extract relevant results from the subjects in Portuguese; and put the results in a clear and simple list.

The AutoGPT agent itself listed the tasks it needs to execute and organized them clearly and logically, aligned with the initial goal.

The image above shows the result from the research: The top 3 subjects are 1-Ethics and AI; 2- Practical application for AI; and 3- Machine Learning and neural networks

As a result, it presented the following topics: Ethics and Artificial Intelligence, Practical Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and Neural Networks. This simple example already demonstrates how the implications can be enormous, especially in tasks that involve information retrieval for conducting studies and reports.

Since AutoGPT is a recent solution, its applications are just beginning to emerge. However, users around the world are sharing their attempts and solutions, such as providing 24/7 customer support and building a repository on a specific subject for references. One user reported using the tool to research recent events in their field and asked the agent for a script for a podcast they would create. Another user performed an optimization process to plan a trip.

The era of AI is indeed just beginning 😉

Enhancing our humanity with AI

According to UN statistics, the world's population is expected to increase from 7.7 billion to nearly 10 billion by 2050. Therefore, the organization estimates that a 70% increase in food production will be necessary. Data, artificial intelligence, and technology can help address this challenge.

The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) has developed an application in collaboration with Microsoft. This application uses climate data and real-time weather information to recommend the optimal planting time, the amount of fertilizer to be used, and other aspects to farmers.

In a pilot project in India, farmers who used the application experienced an average increase of 30% in yield per hectare compared to those who did not follow the solution's recommendations.

Guest of the Week: Data with Google Trends

Presenting data in a proper and contextualized manner can make a big difference. This week, we introduce a tool that perhaps many of you may not be familiar with, but which can assist in understanding contexts.

Google has a tool called Trends (https://trends.google.com/home) that gathers information and allows you to visualize trends in Google Search, Google News, and YouTube.

As an example, in the finance topic over the last 30 days, one of the most searched subjects is income tax, with the following terms:

Translating the image to English we can see 1- Income taxes residual lot; 2- Income taxes 2023 residual lot; e cac (an online website that helps people with income taxes) login; 4- Deadline delivery income tax 2023; and 5- Income tax deadline 2023

You can view information by region, compare keywords, and select topics by specific segments. This tool and its information can help in understanding behaviors and markets.

We would love your help sharing this website!

If you know someone that might like our posts, don’t be shy and share it with them! By the way, we appreciate this!
